The Maserin 977 Bowie is certainly a collaboration of ideas from the users of this knife in the pig hunting industry. This is such a comfortable knife and is balanced well for the side grip or pinch grip for accurate or delicate work when skinning etc.The security is there as well for the more forceful work with its large 5mm stainless bolster but this is also very smooth and beautifully done. The blade is a flat grind {RARE} and its remainder is a mere shadow really with no depth of obstruction. The clearway groove where the edge meets the handle is a nice and much appreciated touch for sharpening.Sharpening options for this knife and various uses come into play, and is something that Ogg Sharpening looks for and will only stock. The 440c stainless blade is of beautiful quality and forge and at 58 Rockwell c takes an absolute kicker of an edge even at the wider angles for those harsher environments. This is a full tang handle knife with a beautiful yet hard wearing micarta grip that is screwed and then backed up with a thread on the tang holding it hard up against the solid stainless bolster. This knife also comes with a pretty classy leather pouch with clips over the bolster and the handle and full length leather splitter inside. This knife is beautifully made, entirely in Italy and certainly a find for our collection of knives at Ogg Sharpening.
